Hokkaido · Sapporo
Sapporo 7-Day Group Golf Trip
Three of Hokkaido’s representative courses, Otaru and Jozankei on the rest days, and one Sapporo hotel for all six nights. Operated in October for twelve, ten of them playing.
Why this route works
Three rounds in seven days is a deliberately unhurried rhythm, and it is the right one for Hokkaido in October. Golf on days two, three and four; Otaru and Jozankei on days five and six, when the autumn colour is usually at its best. The same Sapporo hotel throughout, so nobody repacks, and language support arranged for the group from the airport to the final transfer.
Day by day
Day 1
New Chitose to Sapporo
Met at the airport after immigration and bag collection, including the golf bags, then into the city by private coach. If the timing allows there is a short stop at Mitsui Outlet Park Kitahiroshima on the way. Check in at the Sapporo hotel; dinner is free.
Day 2
Round 1 · Hitsujigaoka Country Club
Breakfast, then 08:00 from the hotel, arriving 45 to 60 minutes before the first tee. Ten players in three groups from the IN course, riding carts included. The two non-golfers travel with the group; the driver runs a short local programme and returns before the round finishes.
Day 3
Round 2 · Sapporo Kitahiroshima Golf Club
Another 08:00 departure, this time for the West Course. Three groups again, riding carts included. The outlet park near the club gives the non-golfers somewhere to spend the round.
Day 4
Round 3 · Katsura Golf Club
The key round of the trip, so the schedule is a little more generous — arrive around 09:00 for a 09:45 start, with a full 45 minutes for check-in, changing and warm-up. Two-tee start across OUT and IN.
Day 5
Otaru for the day
A relaxed day out of Sapporo: the canal, Sakaimachi Street, the glassworks, the music box hall and a long lunch. The schedule is deliberately light on driving so the day can be spent walking rather than in the vehicle.
Day 6
Jozankei and the autumn colour
The shrine, the hot-spring street and the source park, Futami Park and its suspension bridge, with a free afternoon for a foot bath or a day-use hot spring. How far the colour has turned depends on the year’s temperatures.
Day 7
Sapporo to New Chitose
Breakfast, pack the clubs and check out. A single transfer to the airport with time for lunch and shopping before the flight; no distant sightseeing on the way, as the group travels with full luggage and golf bags.
The courses
Course detail below is as played on the trip. For your own group the courses can be swapped for others in the same region.
Hitsujigaoka Country Club
Close enough to the city that the first golf day involves almost no driving. The fairways keep the natural Hokkaido woodland, which gives both open lines and holes where the landing area matters. The long holes ask for a steady drive and second shot; the shorter ones are about direction and the approach. A sensible course on which to find the rhythm.
Sapporo Kitahiroshima Golf Club
A large PGM property of three 18-hole courses — East, South and West — 54 holes in total. The West has the most scale of the three, with the wide, open feel that is typical of Hokkaido golf. Several long holes need distance off the tee, but the landing areas and the ground around the greens still have to be respected.
Katsura Golf Club
A GRAND PGM property designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., and one of Hokkaido’s representative championship courses; it has hosted the Japan LPGA tour. Known for its forest setting and the precision of its routing — bunkering, green position and landing areas all shape the following shot, so length alone is no advantage. Scheduled third, as the high point of the three rounds.

Before you travel
How are non-golfers handled?
Two of the twelve did not play. They travelled with the group on each golf day and the driver ran short programmes nearby, returning to the course before the round finished — no separate vehicle, no separate cost.
What is October like in Hokkaido?
Wide day-to-night temperature swings. Layers, a windproof jacket and rain gear for the golf days. Whether a course adjusts tee times or cart use on the day is the course’s call.
Why only three rounds in seven days?
Because Hokkaido in October is worth seeing. Otaru and Jozankei earn their place, and three rounds spaced out plays better for a mixed-ability group than three rounds back to back.
What about public holidays?
This trip ran across a three-day weekend. Pickup times were adjusted around the traffic so that course check-in and the daily vehicle hours were never at risk.
This is one of five group trips on our Japan group golf hub. Dates, courses and hotel grade are adjusted to your group.
