A family of four, nine days, five rounds. Five good rounds were a must — but the family also wanted Mt Fuji, a proper onsen night and some good time in Tokyo. So we built the trip as one smooth line from Fuji down to Izu, then up to Tokyo.

The brief
Golf for everyone, not just the golfers
With a family trip, the golf has to work for different levels and different energy. Some days you want a caddie and a walk; other days you want a cart, a GPS and an easy pace.
And between rounds, the family wanted real Japan — lakes under Mt Fuji, onsen in Hakone, the Izu coast and great food in Tokyo.

Day by day
The rhythm of the journey
Arrive at Haneda, drive to Fuji Gotemba
Met at the airport by private HiAce and taken straight to the hotel. No trains, no luggage stress.
Narusawa Golf Club and the Fuji Five Lakes
Morning round at Narusawa, then an easy afternoon around Lake Kawaguchi or Oshino Hakkai.
GORA KADAN FUJI GOLF, then onsen in Hakone
Play in the morning, then head over to Gora for a private open-air bath and a kaiseki dinner.
Daihakone Country Club, then on to Kawana
A round in Sengokuhara, then down the coast to the Kawana Hotel.
Kawana Oshima Course and a taste of Izu
A relaxed cart round, then free time on the Izu coast.
Kawana Fuji Course, then up to Tokyo
The big one — a walking round with a caddie — then a private transfer to Tokyo.
Tokyo sightseeing and dinner
A day around the city, finished with a great dinner.
Free day, or a tailored Tokyo plan
Shopping, museums or just slowing down — the family chose on the day.
Transfer to Haneda
An easy morning and a private ride back to the airport.

Lake Kawaguchi, Oshino Hakkai, Lake Yamanaka, Gotemba, Sengokuhara, the Hakone museums, the Izu coast and Tokyo. There was always something nearby for the days — or the afternoons — off the course.

Wagyu yakiniku, omakase sushi, kaiseki at the ryokan and Michelin-listed restaurants in Tokyo. We book what we can ahead; the most popular tables can’t always be guaranteed.
